WOW!!!!!  Where is everyone?Huh?  This is so strange, I know I haven't been here for a while but I thought there would still be some activity going on here...Sept14 seems to be about one of the last postings on here, it's actually kinda strange that the site is still up and running with not much activity.

Hi to all
well its been very bad few months for me . I was told I had UC and diverticular disease and IBS. I am on asacol and during flare have pred and sometimes antibiotics cipro and metrodizanole. Since Oct 2007 I was up and down with flares struggling with work. Felt ill over Christmas was then just back on asacol. Then in Jan o8 was having bad pains. Then one morning couldn't pass gas and stool was water but hard to pass. pain so bad. Went to hospital I vomited see a doc who said xray showed constipation but up to the day before I had been going all the time. A nurse told me my blood readings were showing infection. The doc didnt think blood levels too bad. He said i could stay in hospital if I wanted. I asked for antobiotics he said no eat fibre. I went home in terrible pain. I was sick again. I never slept for three nights couldnt pass wind or stools. My husband got me back to hospital I was so ill. They discovered I had a perforated bowel and peritonitis. The surgeon didnt operate I had a gastro tube inserted and intravenous fluids and two lots of antibiotics no food for ten days. In hospital two weeks. I am now just on asacol and diclofenac and lansoprazole. It is now twelve weeks since this.the surgeon now thinks I have crohns. I get alot of pain and he said its scarring from the infection. I may need sugery at some point but he wants to hold off at mo. I am not back at work yet I get a couple of good days then terrible discomfort . Even my bladder feels weird. I thought I would be ok by now but the doc said I did have a perforation and bad infection. Has anyone had simular and how long it takes to recover. I am worried about work been off 12 weeks now. Thanks linda

Hi everyone

It has been very quiet on here. I thought I better make an appearance.

Everything is going quite well. I am in remission, and feeling good. Back to work part time, liking that.

Talk soon

Welcome to PITG!!  the meds certinly are not fun.  I'm on 20mg of Pred, 100mg of immuran, 2400mg of Asacol!  Not fun at all.  I was on 150mg of Immuran but they had to drop my dose because I was at risk of liver damage!
